CLUB NEWS This year will be a very special year for the club. Just six years after the formation, we will be holding our First Championship Show. That the Kennel Club awarded us Championship status in such a short period just shows how well our Club Activities have been received and reported on. We do try to maintain a high standard. This year our Open Show was subject to an inspection by the Kennel Club field officer and I am pleased to say we were graded Excellent. That the club continues to thrive is down to the main thing that makes or breaks clubs and that is the full support of the membership. Your continued support is thoroughly appreciated by the Committee and will never be taken for granted. This year we see some changes in the Officers and Committee and although sad to lose past committee members, it is good for the club to take on new people and fresh ideas. The committee are always there to take on your suggestions and ideas of any way you may think of improving or indeed adding other events that the members might enjoy. The Credit Crunch is hitting everywhere, it is clear to see from the entries at shows that many exhibitors are reducing their entries or even not entering so many shows. This we accept as necessary and hope that as much as we enjoyed the good times, the leaner times will soon be over. The Membership renewal for this year is now overdue and this is a major part of club funds. If you have forgotten to pay for this year then please contact the Membership Secretary, we have indicated this by placing a red cross on the envelope accompanying this newsletter if your membership appears unpaid. Please do accept our apologies if this reminder has crossed with your payment. |

WELFARE We are thrilled to have a third welfare Rep who has offered to work with Denise Welsh and Sue Stanbury. Mrs Pat Clark lives down in Devon and already has managed to find homes for Papillons needing help in the West Country. Pat is making Dog Beds from used duvets and sheeting which she sells at Companion Shows in aid of Welfare. If you have any materials that may be useful, please let a Committee member know, that we can pass them on to Pat – Many thanks. FUNDAY – AGILITY Please find the flyer overleaf with details of this years Funday and Agility show at Bradfield. The entries are coming in well for the Agility show and if you need any advise on entering your dogs, please call Denise Welsh on 01323 441583. Or for a schedule go to www.agiltynet.com , please note there is a change of judge for Agility, this year it will be Mr Brian Grimes. EDUCATION DAY
We shall be holding an education day in conjunction with next years AGM. It is planned to organise the Kennel Club Official – Conformation and Movement seminar. Something that is a KC requirement for all aspiring judges. We also plan to organise a Papillons walk for Welfare for those that have already taken this seminar of just simply like walking their dogs. Details will be sent out in due course. |
CLUB STALL After several years of running our Club Stall, Brian and Pat Cox have closed up shop and handed over to David Wenham and Aubrey Malbon. I'm sure we will all support the new chaps in the store and hope they enjoy selling all the goods. To Brian and Pat our sincere thanks for all their hard work. TROPHIES Alan Pearch will now be the Trophy steward. It was noticeably this year at the Open show, several of the Trophies had not been returned. Please check your cupboards to see if you have one lurking. It really is a disappointment for winners not to be able to collect their trophies. CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW Entries are coming in fast and furious for what looks to be an excellent Show. We are thrilled with the offer of many specials including prizes from all the other UK Papillon Clubs, the Company Eukanuba have been generous in their donation and several other specials are offered from members and from the club. We shall have the Our Dogs Photographer Alan Walker with us who will be offering special prices for adverts of your winning dogs in the large spread we shall take to celebrate our first show. Please note there has been a change in Judge – Mrs Shirley Colyer will now be judging Dogs, Mr Terry Nethercott will be judging Bitches and Mrs Sylvia Jones will Referee and judge the Welfare and JHA classes.
